1. Rhubarb Festival
The Rhubarb Festival is back and there’s loads of free family friendly activities and events happening within Wakefield to celebrate our famous pink vegetable! Running between the 16th and 18th February there’ll be workshops at Treacy Hall, face painting at The Ridings, arts & crafts at the Cathedral, making crumble at Wakefield Museum and getting creative at The Art House!!

2. Wakefield’s Story Trail Walks
There are four story trails now around Wakefield, which involve a bit of activity to encourage children to do the walks! There’s been a new addition to the Blown Away Trail at Pugneys as there’s now a little dog to follow along the story tail called Windy! And have you spotted the new sculptures on the Room on the Broom Trail! We visited recently, they are very lovely already – there’s a bit of welly mud on them!! 3. Something Sweet at Castleford Museum
12th, 13th, 15th 16th* February, 10am – 3pm
Learn about the local chocolate factory which made a billion After Eights each year.
Marvel at our glass canes filled with real sweets. Explore the many confectionary connections in our displays.
Use this tasty inspiration to design your own chocolate box and mini glass cane!
Booking is not required, all materials free
*16th Feb – SEND SESSION. SEND groups are always welcome at all of our sessions but this ine will be run as a relaxed session

4. Half Term @ Pit
Add a splash of colour to your day with our colourful activities and performances at NCM. Explore the museum while completing the sticker passport, cross the site on our train (weather permitting) and see how the lift was powered using steam.

5. Spot animals for FREE
This new blog post was super popular in January, and I think it’s worth a share on here, especially with lots of baby animals around!!

6. Earnshaws Woodland Trail
Woodland trail walk around Earnshaws Fencing Centre including fairy doors and information about local wildlife, play equipment as well as loads of summer houses and sheds for the kids to play in!

7. Reel Cinema
Take a trip to the cinema in The Ridings Shopping Centre. All ticket are only £3.99 for films starting before 1pm

8.Wakefield Libraries
There’s lots of different events on at Wakefield libraries this half term – Chinese New Year, a Pirate Party & Valentines Day crafts (spaces are limited & they will book fast!)
9. Foody Fun for Under 5’s
Join us for a multisensory crafty rhubarb adventure at Wakefield Museum, specially designed for ages 2 to 5 on 15th February!
Take part in an interactive story aboard the Rhubarb Express train and make your mark with rhubarb! And there’s lots to tick off on your 50 things to do before you’re 5!!
