Flag Hunting
Sometimes getting kids to go for a walk can sound a bit boring. So give your walk a bit more purpose. Hunt for as many Union Jack flags as possible. How many can your little ones count? Have they spotted any different flags? Can they make their own version of the flag once they get home?
We have spotted some amazing flag displays across Wakefield, Ackworth has been my favourite so far with miles of Union Jack bunting around the town.
Celebrate at Home
If you want to celebrate at home without the kids climbing up the walls, you could always play some super traditional family games. Check out our Traditional Games blog with ideas for both inside the house or in the garden. Team these games up with a floor picnic in the lounge or out in the garden and you’ll be in for a day of fun with you little ones.
This is one of our favourite Jubilee activities for families in Wakefield because is there a past time more British than feeding the ducks? There are some amazing ponds and lakes in Wakefield with so many ducks and geese that just love to swim up close and enjoy a little snack. Here are our top 5 places to feed ducks in Wakefield.
Keep an eye out for signs at local parks, ponds and lakes for the ducks preferred food. Sometimes the park management prefer you feed the ducks a specific duck feed which can be purchased on their sites.
