1. Activities at Wakefield Libraries
WordFest runs for the whole of May (with a few events in 1st June!) and they’re all FREE!! With theatre performances, crafting events and story telling there’s something for all ages!

2. Wakefield’s Story Trail Walks
There are four story trails now around Wakefield, which involve a bit of activity to encourage children to do the walks! My absolute favourite is the Gnome Roam, which is a 1.8 mile walk through the beautiful forest at Newmillerdam to find the Gnomes. At each gnome you have to do a little activity! Another popular choice is the Room on the Broom Trail at Anglers, where sculptures and models are based on the popular story. To learn more about the other story trail walks click HERE.
3. Reel Cinema
Take a trip to the cinema in The Ridings Shopping Centre. All ticket are only £3.50 for films starting before 1pm and from £4.00 for all film starting after 1pm.
Remember Free Parking when visiting cinema too.

4. Earnshaws Woodland Trail
Woodland trail walk around Earnshaws Fencing Centre including fairy doors and information about local wildlife, play equipment as well as loads of summer houses and sheds for the kids to play in!
Grab a coffee and cake at Little Acorns too.

5. Jubilee Arts & Crafts at Wakefield Cathedral
Drop in to Wakefield Cathedral on Minday 30th May, 10am – 3pm as they host a family free craft day on the theme of Kings & Queens!

6. Half Term @ Pit
Get into the spirit and make your own flags to parade around site, learn how to lino-cut at Caphouse Creators, challenge yourself to one of our trails and head to our adventure playground and Nature Trail for some fresh air.

7. Pontefract Castle
Discover the story of one of Britain’s most important castles, so vast and powerful that it was known in its heyday as the Key to the North. This is a great place for exploring, play hide and seek and having a play on the castle themed adventure playground!

8. Wigfield Farm
Open currently on weekends, this farm is only £1 entry per person with under 2’s free! The farm has a wide range of animals including meerkats, horses, cows, goats, shetland pony, miniature zebu, donkeys, pigs, sheep, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits!
