I tried baby massage through my local children’s centre when Mini Mumbler was a baby. The group was awful and I only went twice. I felt completely out of the gang. I’m a talk to anyone kind of person, but I even I found it hard to chat with people that didn’t chat back! So understandably I was a bit nervous when I signed Tiny Mumbler up for Relax and Sing Baby Massage in Wrenthorpe.
I wonder what Tiny Mumbler would write if she really could do the review herself? Probably something like this…
‘I’m 8 weeks old and that lady (the one I really like, I think she’s my mummy), has taken me somewhere new.
The room is calm and cosy, and I have a lovely soft mat to lie on – so far so good!
What is that noise? Oh no she’s singing, I’m thankful for the blonde lady and the other mummies can hold a tune and drown her out a bit. They also know the words, she’s had a baby before shouldn’t she know them?
Woah! What are you doing woman? Keep my clothes on! I mean it I will cry, oh you’ve done it n…oooh that feels nice.
Yes, thank you, I would love a massage!
I think I’ll just have a little nap.
Is that it? Well I’m hungry now so you can put down that cake and feed me. I mean it FEED ME!
Aww pretty lights
I’m full now and that massage was lush, I hope we can come back next week. ‘
She wouldn’t be far wrong either! Although we all know that mum and baby groups aren’t just about the baby, if you get a good group it’s something to really look forward to no matter how tired you are or how useless you feel!
Corinna has been there, she’s been to the groups that are a clique, and she’s been to ones where she’s made real friends. She’s taken her experiences and made sure that her groups are positive, friendly places where you can chat away with anyone and make some friends. She really thinks about each group every week, even down to the seating plan and dietary requirements for the obligatory cake.
I’ve really enjoyed Corinna’s group, and with me working on Mumbler whilst on maternity leave, it’s been lovely to have a set time to spend completely focussed on Tiny and not checking Facebook and my emails. When Mini Mumbler was on a different half term, Corinna was happy for her to come along too with her own baby, she even set her out a place in the circle and gave her some oil so that she felt completely included.
This class also runs in Tingley, and there’s a follow-on Stage 2 classes include baby signing, music and movement and are suitable for babies who are too wriggly for baby massage.
Every other weekend Corrina runs extra sessions for the whole family to come along including siblings and any family that miss out during the week.
I would recommend Corinna’s massage classes to anyone and I’m hoping that I can go along to baby sign when Tiny is a bit bigger.
For the purposes of this review we received a free block of baby massage classes. We do not publish reviews where we did not genuinely enjoy the product or experience. I certainly wouldn’t have taken my own child every week if it hadn’t been great.
