Whilst I am not a brilliant gardener, Mini Mumbler seems to love it. He loves nothing more than digging, planting and watching things grow. He usually helps his Nanna in her vegetable patch and on her allotment but due to social distancing, we decided to have a go ourselves last Spring! We enjoyed harvesting beans, tomatoes, strawberries, lettuces and cress.
As the weather is improving and the Spring flowers have appeared, we thought we’d have another go of growing things again this year!
I recently visited Harpins at Ackworth Garden Centre and they showed me all their plants and gardening supplies! They have a great range of children’s products too which are well made and look like they will last a really long time! They have seed packs aimed at children and an area of gardening supplies for them too!! And if you need any help or advice the Harpins team were on hand to assist with my questions!
We took some cress seeds (quick and easy results!), sunflower seeds (we like a competition of who can get the highest sunflower) and some flowery seeds for bees and bugs. Children’s gardening gloves were added, a shovel for digging the compost and a little bucket and spade for filling up the seed pots! The pigeons also liked our plants last year so we got a ladybird windmill too! And of course we would be needing a watering can that came in a fun shaped elephant!!
Our little boy really enjoyed the planting and popping the seeds into the compost and we even managed a bit of 5 times table practice counting the number of seed pots! Fingers crossed they all germinate and we get a good harvest again!!
If you can’t get along to Harpins at Ackworth Garden Centre they now offer a delivery service via their website shop. A Little Gardener’s Selection Box would make a great birthday present!!
And if you’re not sure what fruit to plant they have a Tomato Selection Box and a Fruit Bowl Selection Box
