Advertorial for Sweaty Mama
Hello 2019!
January is the time for New Year’s Resolutions and for many people these often involve becoming healthier and fitter. As a mum of two, how is it possible to fit in a new fitness regime without that added feeling of guilt when you end up missing bed time because you’re out for a run or going to the gym?
The start of 2018 was a very different story for me; 5 months after having my second son I was about to embark on a brand new adventure! I discovered Sweaty Mama fitness classes in November 2017 and once I had been to one class I decided that this was something I wanted to be part of – helping women and specifically mums get back into fitness, regaining their body confidence and strength following pregnancy and birth.
I had a young baby as well as a 5-year-old myself and it meant retraining as a fitness instructor gaining specialist qualifications in pre and post-natal fitness planning as well as leaving my teaching job that I had been in for 13 years! Big changes, exciting but scary at the same time!
I’ve always been quite into my fitness and before having children I was a complete gym bunny often going 5 or 6 times a week. After having my first son in 2012 I found it really tough to get back into exercise and finally started running again when he was 3, as it was the only thing that didn’t cost me money, like a gym membership, and I could go straight out of the door and be done within an hour!
Investing in Sweaty Mama has completely changed my outlook. I now take my youngest to work with me, am there for the school run for my eldest, I don’t have to pay for childcare to be able to workout and don’t spend a fortune on gym membership. I still enjoy my evening boot camp sessions which are an opportunity to workout without kids but absolutely love my daytime classes and seeing all the little ones joining in and mums bonding with their tiny babies whilst getting a great workout.
This business has changed my life and I love helping new mums to get their confidence back and seeing the change in them between their first session and a few months down the line is awe inspiring.
Those New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to be about weight loss. Exercise is not a punishment for what you have eaten, it’s a celebration of what your body can do. Seeing the change in my regular ladies, their boost in confidence and healthy attitude to their bodies is my main motivation to continue and build up these classes, and to offer them to as many ladies across Wakefield as possible. Come and join the Sweaty Mama revolution, I’m determined to make our second year bigger and better than the first!
