A special babygrow, hat and scratch mittens for that ‘look I’ve just been born’ photo. Mini Mumbler has picked out a baby grow for her baby sister to wear.
Another special outfit to wear home and have the ‘I’m home’ photo. Tiny mumbler is wearing the same outfit that Mini Mumbler wore home.
Yep, as soon as they are born they start needing their nappies changed, btw nothing quite prepares you for the first poo, enjoy! I used to love Blackjacks.
If you’re travelling home by car the hospital will want to see that car seat before you can leave.
Important: I made a massive mistake when I took mini mumbler home from the hospital, I had a beautiful white padded coat, she was so cute all snug in the car seat.
It wasn’t until months of me bundling my winter born into various snowsuits and jackets that I was told of my error.
Please don’t put babies in car seats wearing thickly padded anything, if you were to have a collision, the trapped air will instantly be forced out and although you were sure the straps were tight, suddenly they aren’t and the baby can actually be thrown from the car seat.
Instead, fasten them into the seat wearing a few layers of normal clothing and put a blanket over them.
Breastfeeding is great for you and baby, if that’s what you choose to do and if everything is going smoothly. You might just want to give the baby formula because you can’t relax in the hospital and it’s all getting a bit much.
You might want to only give your child formula. Whatever your situation and your choices the ready-made stuff can be a lifesaver compared to powder in the early days and you can even get it with sterile teats so you don’t have to faff about with bottles yet.
If you already have a child or even a stepchild it’s important that they feel part of the new baby experience. Take them shopping before the birth, choose and wrap up a present for their new sibling together.
Heads up, it’s also extra special if when they arrive at the hospital to meet the new addition that baby has a present for them too. Who’s going to fly off into a jealous rage at a cute baby who’s bought them a present?
Well, that’s the hope anyway! It’s great if you choose something that they can do independently so that when you’re busy with the baby they can play with their new toy.
Or if you get something for the both of you to do together when the baby is sleeping you can get back some of their lost time alone with you. DON’T forget to take it to the hospital!
Anything else can be brought in later or left in the car until the baby is here. It’s likely that Daddy or your birth partner will go home and come back or you’ll just all go home.
