Get in the festive spirit as you explore the speciality market with a Christmas twist, meet an elf whilst taking selfies in the giant snow globe and enjoy the fairground rides! Watch the live stage entertainment hosted by Rhubarb Radio and don’t forget to pop into the market to place your festive orders and post a letter to Santa. Don’t miss the iconic Christmas light switch on from 5.30pm!

On Sunday 26 November Pontefract Town Centre will kick off the festive season with a wholesome Christmas themed day out including the traditional switching on of the Christmas lights at 5:30pm!
Join us from midday on the picturesque Market Square of Pontefract to explore the Christmas Speciality Market bursting with local produce and those essential little stocking fillers! Warm up with some hot chocolate and yummy street food whilst listening to Christmas Carols & enjoying the funfair. From 4pm you will be able to see the towns key buildings in all their beauty as we light up The Town Hall & St. Giles Church.
Don’t forget to pop into the indoor market hall to place your festive orders and check out the North Pole Letter Box where you can post all your letters to Santa.
The stage entertainment with local acts and community groups will kick off from 2pm. Stage entertainment will carry on throughout the afternoon until the main switch on of the towns lights at 5:30pm.
Santa will be warming his toes within the Town Hall Nelson Room, organised by Castleford & Pontefract Lions Club supported by Pontefract Civic Society. Don’t miss your opportunity to see the big man himself and receive a small present if you’ve been good this year (£5 charge with all proceeds going to local charities)
