A family favourite just a short drive down the M1. Only 30 minutes away, Calypso Cove is located in Barnsley Metrodome, an ultimate leisure centre destination to escape the scorching sun and cool off in the huge indoor waterpark.
With 3 big slides*, wave pool, diving pool and our favourite water play space for the little ones Barnacle Bag. Barnacle Bay is ideal for under 5’s, with a shallow pool, mini slides, water sprayers and even a submarine.
Calypso Cove offer Little Fins swimming sessions during the week in term time. A perfect opportunity to enjoy the water with your smaller children in a quieter environment.

2. Aqua-Tec at Magna, Rotherham
Let’s head outdoors for an outdoor water adventure. Aqua-Tec warns: You WILL get wet.
This splash park is an adventure for children of all ages. With sprinklers, water sprays, shooters, water tunnels and fountains of water coming from all different directions. There is no escaping the water, you will get wet from head to toe.
Perfect for running around in the sunshine while staying completely cool. Little ones will enjoy following the trail around the different water sprays and fountains. Big ones will love getting drenched running through the tunnels of water spraying you.
Aqua-Tec can get busy during the school holidays, so get there early, and remember your towels and dry clothes.
Aqua-Tec is included FREE for all Magna ticket and annual pass holders. Just head to reception for your access wrist band. Not visiting Magna? Aqua-Tec tickets are available separately to purchase on the day.

3. East Park Water Play Area, Hull
Lets head across the M62 to Hull and visit East Park Water Play Area. Set in the enormous East Park, a site that has had over Β£10million invested to create a full and exciting day out for all families.
The newly refurbished water play area includes a supersized splash pad with 43 water jets creating water play features. Pack water shoes (crocs anyone?), towels, sun cream and a picnic and you can spend the full day at East Park.
As well as the water play area, East Park is home to a large children’s play ground, a splash boat, boating lake and animal education centre. Look carefully, you will even find a waterfall in the centre of the park.
With only a limited walk up places are available daily, booking is highly recommended as places in to the Water Park.

4. Water Splash, Clifton Park, Rotherham

A family adventure close to home. Clifton Park in Rotherham is home to Water Splash. The locally famous, whole acre of water splashing fun. Part of the huge Clifton Park, your family is in for a treat when you visit .
With paddling pools, water jets, fountains and even a whirlpool. Make sure you keep topping up the sun cream as you will be here splashing about all day long.
Open during the school holidays and on weekends, you can have a full day of fun. Visit the local cafΓ© for an ice cream. Head to the fun park for a ride on the mini rollercoaster. Or enjoy a game of mini golf as part of your visit.
Water splash is free to enter, with no booking option. There a toilets, accessible toilets and changing facilities close by.
There are 2 payable carparks available offering full day parking, so you can stay and enjoy all parts of the park in one day.

5. Water Sports Centre, Rother Valley Country Park
This is our wildcard for waterparks near Wakefield as a lot of the activities at Rother Valley Country Park are not meant to get you wet. Unless you fall in the water that is.
Get on the water at Rother Valley Country Park and enjoy a variety of different water activities. Hop onboard a Miniport electric ships, pedalos or rowing boats. With different boats to accommodate different sized families.
Aquatrikes, canoes and kayaks are all available to hire.
Water zorbing, stand up paddle boards or even wind surfing for those that might be a bit more adventurous and confident in the water.
Rother Valley Country Park can accommodate families with children of all ages, but remember to check the age limits of each activity ahead of booking.

6. Rivelin Valley Water Play, Sheffield
The number of times we have driven past this discreet splash park and never knew it existed. Tucked away on our usual route from Wakefield into the Peak district, Rivelin Valley Water Play is one of the amazing but almost secret waterparks near Wakefield.
The waterpark boasts interactive water play equipment that are perfect for a whole range of ages. Including water jets, sprinklers, water bucket drops and water tables.
Situated in the Rivelin Valley Park, there is so much more than just the waterplay. Follow the nature trail and immerse yourself in the valleys woodland and wildlife. Hop over stepping stones. Spot the remains of historical mills and dams.
The Water Play itself designed to be as accessible as possible. With ramped access to the park and even special aqua wheelchairs being available for loan to disabled children and their carers. Plus a changing places toilet facility also being available.
There is a small car park just off Rivelin Park Road, but road parking is available. If you don’t mind a little walk, you can park in one of the larger country park car parks.
No pre-booking is required. The park is open from spring bank through to the first weekend of September. Opening on weekends during term time, and every day during the school holidays.

7. Splash Zone at Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield

A true wildlife adventure with a splash. Tropical Butterfly House boasts over 100 different animals and creatures to spot, but what you want to know about today is the Splash Zone.
Grown ups pull up a deck chair and watch your children explore the sand and the water. A dry set of clothes is a must as you will get wet. Jets, sprinklers, sprayers and water buckets all mean that getting out of the splash zone dry is impossible.
A fab space to enjoy as part of a busy day out with the children.
Regular events take place at Tropical Butterfly House such as Enchanted Fairy Forest, School of Witchcraft or We Dig Dinosaurs.
Although not essential, pre-booking is recommended to guarantee entry. Adult tickets priced at Β£14.99 and children at Β£13.99 (under 2’s are free).
