The Hepworth Autumn 2017 Art Club

AUTUMN ART CLUB FOR 6-11 YR OLDS

MON 23, TUES 24, THURS 26, FRI 27 OCTOBER, 10AM – 4.30PM (EXTENDED HOURS 9 – 10AM; 4.30 – 5PM)

Join artist Jennyanne Smith for four days of fun and creativity during October half term. Discover the artworks in the gallery and experiment with printmaking, metal, clay, plaster casting and giant drawing, culminating at the end of the week in a mini-exhibition of all the amazing artwork you create.

Suitable for children aged 6 – 11 years old. There is no need to accompany your child on this course. Children will be accompanied by a member of staff at all times and all staff working on the course are DBS checked.

Extended hours
9-10am and 4.30-5pm

During extended hours the group will take part in mini creative activities with our learning team. These activities will be based around artworks in the gallery – making, drawing and sculpture building. Squash will be provided, children and young people are welcome to bring a light snack to eat during this time.

October Half Term 2017 at Nostell, National Trust Wakefield

Join us for autumn adventures this half term for all the family this half-term. Most activities are free with a normal admission ticket (National Trust members free). No booking needed.

Mucky Monday: campfire cooking
Date: Monday 23 October
11am – 3pm in Engine Wood (free)
Autumn half term days are perfect for getting cosy around the campfire and cooking scrumptious, sweet treats that melt in your mouth.
Head to Engine Wood to have a go at stripping a stick and toasting marshmallows and dough balls on a crackling fire. Made some magical, tasty memories today? Don’t forget to draw your campfire feast in your scrapbook of 50 things to do before you’re ¾ – it’s number 47. There’s a £2 charge per campfire cook for this event.

50 Things Tuesday: bonkers for conkers
Date: Tuesday 24 October
11am – 3pm on the South Lawn (garden ticket needed)
Show off your champion conker-swinging skills with number 10 from your list of 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ and create fuzzy felt acorns.
The competition is on! Scattered around Nostell’s lawns this autumn are hundreds of hidden gems; have a rummage and see if you can find a corker of a conker. Give it a swing on a piece of string and see if it’s tough enough to win the conker championship. Whilst you’re foraging, look out for an acorn cup to craft your own acorn out of felt to sit inside.

1 – 4pm creative crafts in the Workshop (house ticket needed)
Run around in the fresh air this autumn with a day of outdoor activities and unwind in the Workshop with creative crafts
Challenge your friends and family to a game of volleyball or get into teams for a game of cricket on the vista. We’ll kit you out with all the sports equipment you need to play, so just bring yourselves and a sporting attitude and enjoy the autumn outdoors. If you’re looking to change the pace, come inside and unleash your inner artist, making paper craft clock decorations to help Nostell get ready for Christmas (it’s a big house to fill!) and create your own fabric clock badge to take home.

You’ll also be able to craft your own fabric clock badge to take home. Don’t forget to come back at Christmas to see your artwork on display!

Little witches and wizards are welcome at Nostell for spook-tacular family fun for Halloween.
Build your own woodland lair with den-building in the forest, snuggle up for ghostly tales and brush up on your broom making skills to get you in the spirit of things for the big night. Got the most gruesome costumes prepared? We’d love to see them!
There’s a charge of £2 per child (including treats to keep you going),payable on the day.

Mucky Monday: catch a falling leaf

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to look after Nostell’s gardens?
Don your wellies for a fun family day out, and help our gardeners along the way! Join them for raking, gathering and clearing all the autumn leaves.
You might just be able to have a go at number 33 in your scrapbook of 50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4. You bring your outdoor clothes and we’ll provide all the tools you’ll need.

Kids can enjoy free facepainting and special FX wound art to get suitably spooky then follow our trail around the centre to pick up treats and be in with the chance of winning a £25 gift card.

They’ll be helped along by some ghoulish guests and there’ll be extra treats for anyone in fancy dress!

Crafty Owls Art Camp October 2017


Family Halloween Fun Event

29th October 2:30-5pm Hosted by The Comets, at Pugneys Waterpark.

A Halloween themed scavenger hunt for families around Pugneys Country park lake (2.5km). Visit 7 spooky (yet child-friendly) zones to collect stamps on your map. Once you’ve collected all the stamps head back to the start for children to collect a Trick or Treat prize.

We will have a fancy dress competition with both adult and children’s prizes so release your imagination and dress to impress 🙂

Running buggies are available to hire from Pugneys on the day (refundable deposit required)

Tickets are bought on the day and are £5 per family (2 adults, 3 children) additional tickets are £1.50 each.
There will be music playing and amazing wood-fired pizzas for sale too.

Come join us and raise money for PANDAS in the process. Hope to see you there…

Mess Around West Yorkshire

Messy Play Spooktacular,  Sunday 29th October at Kettlethorpe High School, 10:30-11:30am.

Calling all witches, devils, cats and bats! Mess Around’s creepy, crawly, gruesome Spooktacular party has landed. Little ones can mix, pour, dig and explore, from ghostly mud to gory goo. Hear their cackles of delight as they get ghoulishly messy. So don’t be haunted by messy play, simply come along and mess around and leave the cleaning up to us!

The event is suitable for children aged 6 months (or sitting unaided) to 5 years old. What makes us special is everyone is welcome to join in including older siblings up to the age of 10, who can participate in the Big Kids Create & Make Corner which includes arts and crafts activities to keep them busy!
