Keeping your children busy over summer can be such hard work, especially with activities that peak their interests. Here at Wakefield Mumbler, we hope we have taken a weight off your shoulders by finding these different places to see dinosaurs this Summer.
Dinosaurs are a huge favourite for all ages. Even us grown-ups. Different attractions and events have made seeing dinosaurs accessible for all families at different times over the summer. We can’t wait to go on some ROAR-some adventures at these dino destinations.
Trinity Walk’s Dino Walk!
Meet roar-some dinosaurs at Trinity Walk’s Dino Walk! Get hands-on and up “claws” to dinosaurs and everything prehistoric this summer holidays!
After their discovery of a clutch of dinosaur eggs underneath Trinity Walk while completing some new pipework, they’ve decided to share the love and invite youngsters and families to meet the newly hatched dinos this summer in Wakey.
Trinity Walk expect the baby dinosaurs to be born soon and that means they’ll be ready to meet the public during the summer holidays – there might even be a bigger relative stomping by once they catch the scent of the newbies’ arrival!
Baby and teenage dinos will be roaming around with Trinity Keepers at various times with breaks throughout the day on Thursday 24th August, Friday 25th August, and Saturday 26th August from around 10.30 am to around 4 pm.
Babies and a full-size velociraptor will be prowling about on Thursday 31st August, Friday 1st September, and Saturday 2nd September from around 10.30 am to around 4 pm

Journey back in time with us this summer as our Historic Gardens turn prehistoric with the addition of some life-sized dinosaur visitors!
Will you be brave enough to walk amongst them to complete our Dinosaur Discovery Trail?!
Your adventure could bring you face-to-face with a vicious Velociraptor, a ferocious Deinonychus or even the most feared of them all…the terrifying T. rex.
If this all sounds a little scary, do not fear! Our expert dinosaur ranger will be on hand to help keep things under control, and you on the right track!
Dino fossil dig – perfect for any budding palaeontologists, our dino fossil dig station will be set up and ready for some careful excavation! What prehistoric discoveries will you uncover?!
Get crafty – let the creative kiddies loose in our craft room where they can make their own paper dinosaur to take home, or colour in a masterpiece to enter into our daily dino colouring competition. The Family Farm team will announce a winner each day on social media so keep your eyes peeled for the chance to win free return entry (for one child) and a free bag of animal food!
Say cheeese! Make sure you come photo-ready as they’ll be some T-rexcellent photo opportunities to take advantage of – the perfect way to remember your day out! Why not bring the little ones along in fancy dress, we’d love to meet some dino explorers or young palaeontologists!
Try your luck – have a go at our Brachiosaurus ring toss game or see if you can hook a dinosaur duck (hook a duck £2 per go, win a prize every time).

From 31st July – 3rd September, experience the FREE Dino Discovery Trail, a centre-wide installation designed to inspire dino fans of all ages.
Head to the totems by our entrances or the Customer Service Centre by New Look to collect your map, before setting out on a quest to find all 11 beasts. From fan favourites like the diplodocus and stegosaurus to the king of the lizards itself, the tyrannosaurus rex, there are plenty of impressive models to spot and snap a selfie with.
Of course, hunting for dinos is hungry work! When you need a boost, treat the family to something tasty at one of our fabulous restaurants or cafés.
Some of our dinosaurs are more than 65 million years old, so please don’t touch the models!
Every Friday in August (plus the Bank Holiday Monday) is a special ‘Dino Day’. Families can meet different dinosaurs ‘in the flesh’, from gentle giants to some of the most vicious predators out there! Do you dare?

With a life size plesiosaur overhead and a dig zone where you can hunt for fossils, this gallery sets the scene for the exhibition. It looks at the history of the Earth, putting the Jurassic Period into context and introducing the ideas and discoveries that form the basis for much of what we know today about this period.
Dinosaur Detective Toddler Trail
Put on one of our Dinosaur Backpacks and become a Dinosaur Detective!
Ask a member of the museum team to borrow a backpack to take around the Jurassic exhibition, and use the items inside to discover its exciting worlds.

Dino Adventures at Piglets Adventure Farm
From 7th – 20th August, let out your loudest ROARRR as you embark on a prehistoric journey to meet live Dinosaurs!
Unearth the bones of a dinosaur and find the buried treasure in the new Dino Dig and Gem Mining activity.
Learn how to train our most ferocious dinosaur in “The Raptor Show” who’ll appear on stage in the show marquee at 12pm and 2.30 pm daily.
