LEAF Open Farm Sunday is a fantastic opportunity for all the family to get out and about and see the fantastic work that farmers in the local community do! It’s the farming industry’s national open day for them to show off their work!!
Local farmers literally open their farm gates to millions of people across the UK and there are activities such as farm walk, nature trail, tractor and trailer rides, demonstrations, pond dipping, activities for children, a mini farmers market or farm shop (not all activities will run at each farm).
Local Farms taking part in Open Farm Sunday:
Joseph Norton Academy, Scissett – 11am – 2pm
Small school farm used for its educational and therapeutic benefits. They have a Polly-tunnel and grow beds, ducks, chickens, rabbits, pygmy goats and pigs.
Discover first-hand what it means to work on the farm, take care of the animals and produce the food they use in their school dinners. Stroke a goat, feed the chickens, enjoy crazy gold, or just relax and enjoy some food in the beautiful grounds.
They’ll be shining a light on our working dairy farm where you can see the story of Yummy Yorkshire and the farming family, get close to the herd and learn how they use their milk to produce the award-winning artisan Ice cream right here at Delph House Farm.
