National Coal Mining Museum – Treasured Trees

27th May – 4th June 2023 (closed Mondays & Tuesdays)

 

Discover the great outdoors and explore 12 acres of woodland with our new Encounters of the Trees activity. Discover the different types of trees and how wood was used in the mining industry in this trail trail which includes ten, beautifully crafted benches at various locations across the site. Get creative in our Caphouse Creators and Makers Shed or watch the interactive puppet show.

 

Artisan Makers will be running sessions throughout the week. These include:

  • Weds 31 May – Pyrography – Dr Helen Jones
  • Thurs 1st June – Tree Walk & Talk with Roger Parkinson and Storytelling with Julia Chalkley
  • Fri 2nd June – Bodging with Mike Craig and Creative Writing session
  • Sat 3rd – Bodging with Mike Craig
  • Sun 4th – Wood turning with the blind wood turner, Chris Fisher
