Bradford Nappy Guru

I first started using cloth nappies and reusable wipes when my first daughter was 3 months old. I did a lot of research and decided on which nappies fitted my needs and I never looked back! Now 5 years later I am using the same nappies on my second daughter.

It’s is estimated that in the UK about eight million disposable nappies are thrown away each day, this accounts for about three percent of our household waste. Using real nappies can dramatically reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill and can also minimise our impact on the environment plus you can save money overtime as real nappies can be re-used on several babies.

Gone are the days of bulky nappies and safety pins, today’s brands are now more compact and come with either Velcro or popper fastenings, lots of different designs and colours plus there is also the cute factor, nothing is cuter than seeing a baby in a cloth nappy! I can help take the stress out of choosing the correct nappies for your needs.

If you are curious about real nappies why not get in touch, I am happy to show you my kit either in a one to one consultation or in a group setting, I’m also available to offer demonstrations at antenatal classes.

Change your nappy brand.

Are you still using branded nappies? Something that many mumblers have discovered is that there are some easy savings to be made here as some supermarketā€™s own nappies perform as well as the leading brands.

The mumblers overwhelmingly recommended the Asda ā€˜Little Angelsā€™ nappies, but also mentioned were Lidlā€™s own brand and Kiddicare nappies

ā€œLittle angels are fab, from Asdaā€

ā€œIā€™ve used the Asda little angels they are pretty good indeed. So are the pull upsā€

ā€œAnother vote for Asdaā€™s little angels. I swear by themā€

ā€œIā€™m an little angels convert too-I reckon theyā€™re as good as pampers. Just wish Iā€™d known that 4 years agoā€

ā€œWeā€™ve just got Kiddicares own brand, they are cheap & brill & if you donā€™t use them all & your lo goes up a size they take them back, we got 272 size 4+ for Ā£30ā€

ā€œI look after twins and we only use Lidl, after 15 years of nannying I canā€™t see anything wrong with themā€

Christmas on a Budget

Check out our MUMbler Blog, written by Heather Smith. It has lots of ideas to help reduce the cost of Christmas.

The December Newsletter also has a few ideas to help fill the time between Christmas and New Year, all without breaking the bank!

Energy Saving Tips

One mumbler has managed to reduce her bills by Ā£40 per month by making the following small changes
ā€œIā€™ve looked at the times the heating comes on/off. Some times it was on & I was boiling so changed that, I use the quick wash setting on the washer so that reduces washer use by 30mins each time. Also I put stuff on the airier & only use dryer for towels & bedding. I find it dries within a day. Only boil water you need in kettle, turn oven off 15 mins before things are ready.
Unplug chargers as mentioned & when ironing I always sit down for a rest & used to leave iron on, Iā€™d always end up sat down resting for ages ith the iron on, unplug it now. Also iron last few bits with iron unplugged as stays hot ages.
All this has saved Ā£40 per monthā€

Terrier i-temps on radiators

One mumbler recommends Terrier i-temps ā€œWe have itemps fitted on our rads throughout our house you programme each one individually and can even have a different setting each day of the week per room. We then just have heating on in rooms we are using at certain times. In tests they saved up to 40% off your gas bill and our bill gone down Ā£55 a month so I would say defo helped usā€
