Mumbler Charlotte and her little boy, Alfie checked out Mini Maestros Virtual Class … here’s what they thought!!
Alfie (11 months) and I usually attend Mini Maestros in Stanley but since the country has been told to stay at home, we obviously haven’t been able to go. We were, therefore, delighted that Jo decided she would offer virtual classes!!
I had imagined it would be quite a complex process to get everything together to attend a virtual class but it wasn’t! (Well, not from my end, I’m sure it took a bit of magic work on Jo’s end to get it set up!) All I needed to do was click on a link Jo sent to me in an email and, hey presto, Jo appeared on the screen!
The classes follow a similar format to the usual classes. There is the same “welcome” song and “goodbye” song each week and a different theme each week. Jo sends the words to the songs by email prior to the class so that you can happily sing along. She will also tell you what instruments will be required and substitutes just in case you don’t have those specific instruments.
Alfie loved dancing along to the songs and playing his instruments. It didn’t matter that we didn’t have the same instruments as everyone else, we just used what we had at home (some maracas and claves) and it was brilliant! It was also a welcomed interruption to our day, seeing other human beings on the screen and having social interaction with others!
You can also join in through your phone, iPad, laptop or TV…which ever device you have to hand!
I also have a 4 year old, Esme. Given the schools are now closed, we used Alfie’s Mini Maestros session as our music class!
The virtual classes last 30 minutes and cost £2.50 a session which I think is a bargain! We will definitely be joining in this week!!
