Healthy Island APP

Healthy Island is a fun, replayable game for children ages 7–11 years old. It encourages them to think about health and wellbeing choices in three areas: exercise, healthy eating and dental health.

Healthy Island is a fun, replayable game for children ages 7–11 years old. It encourages them to think about health and wellbeing choices in three areas: exercise, healthy eating and dental health.

This app has been developed as part of the Schools App Challenge 2016 by West Wakefield Health & Wellbeing Ltd, a network of six neighbouring GP practices in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Children in schools across the are were involved in the project. They created initial concepts and design ideas with the help of some peer-to-peer judging and feedback from mentors and local GPs

DRAGON IN THE ATTIC IS A FUN, REPLAYABLE, GAME FOR 8 – 12 YEAR OLD BOYS AND GIRLS ABOUT HEALTH AND WELLBEING CHOICES WHICH GIVES PLAYERS GREATER AWARENESS AND CONFIDENCE.

This app has been developed as part of the Schools App Challenge by West Wakefield Health & Wellbeing Ltd. which is a network of 6 neighbouring GP practices in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

One hundred Year 6 students were involved in the project, creating 20 initial concepts that were shortlisted to six with the help of some peer to peer judging and feedback from their Skype in the Classroom mentors and local GPs. The students presented their health app concepts to a panel of ‘Dragon’s Den’ style judges.
