Mini Maestros has been running classes across Wakefield for over ten years offering creative fun music classes for from 9 months onwards on Mondays at Wrenthorpe Methodist Church Hall as well as many more venues around Wakefield including private nurseries, soft play centres and providing entertainment for children’s birthday parties.
In our age-specific classes, we have a mixture of rhymes and poems, singing with bounces and tickles, fingerplays with puppets and movement games that are a great way to start helping your child develop.
The emphasis within our sessions has always been fun but we do endeavour to enrich your child’s early learning experience by developing memory skills, vocabulary, spatial awareness, motor coordination and the ability to relax.
Each week we focus on a different educational theme that is communicated through simple percussion instruments, puppets, musical based activities involving dancing, parachute, bubbles, etc and lots of action songs.
It has been proven on numerous occasions that music helps children’s co-ordination, their social, emotional and mental development, and enables creativity, all of which are at the heart of Mini Maestros. Each individual session is carefully crafted to offer a high quality but fun experience for all ages, background and capabilities using visual aids, puppets, simple percussion instruments and much more.
In university studies “researchers have discovered that very early musical training benefits children even before they can walk or talk. They found that one-year-old babies who participate in interactive music classes with their parents smile more, communicate better and show earlier and more sophisticated brain responses to music.” With this in mind, we expose little ones to a large range of different music from well-known nursery rhymes to popular music, classical excerpts to traditional party songs – this is done either with simple piano backing tracks created for us, unaccompanied singing or activities with actual tracks.
