Kirklees Light Railway has announced today that they will be re-opening their train attraction on Saturday 11th July!
They have been busy behind the scenes planning for a while and things will look a bit different as they make sure they are Covid secure when they open.
The main things that you need to know are:
- You must book in tickets advance via their website … click here
- There will be social distancing and hygiene measures in place
- There will be one-way systems with entry & exit points
- Adult visitors (apart from those who are medically exempt) must wear a face mask on the trains
- On trains there will be at least 1.2m between each ‘social bubble’ travelling on the trains
- The Buffer Stop Cafe will be open with socially distanced tables available on a first come, first served basis. Takeaway will also be available & can be pre-ordered here
- Contactless payments are the preferred method of payment
- Shelley Tea Room will remain closed initially and will only be reopened when it is feasible to do so
- Playgrounds will be open but there will be restrictions on the number of people allowed in the playgrounds and a time limit to play
- The Clayton Flyer (miniature train ride around the duck pond) will be open but only contactless payments will be accepted
We really do love a visit to Kirklees Light Railway and our train mad 4 year old can’t wait to go back! You can read our review from pre-lockdown – click here
