As we finish one year and jump into 2020, and a new decade, I have taken some time to reflect on the past 12 months.
I still can’t believe how many ladies and little ones have joined us at our Sweaty Mama classes in Wakefield this year. It’s only my second year of running this business and I absolutely love welcoming new mums into class and seeing them become fitter and more confident. I have also developed some amazing friendships with mums who have been coming to class for some time.
That’s what it’s all about after all – yes you may have some resolutions for a healthier and fitter you – we can certainly help with that! But we also provide a safe space where you can feel comfortable to break a sweat, bond with your little one and discuss the joys (and hardships) of parenthood with like minded mums.
Exercise is fantastic for releasing endorphins which make you feel happier and more confident. It is the ideal activity to set a good example of a healthy lifestyle to your little one (we welcome children of all ages and are not exclusively for new mums – our toddlers and school age children love joining in on some of the moves – and are better than us most of the time!) and create good habits for life.
I understand that it’s hard getting out of the house sometimes, especially after a rough night with little one but I have lost count of how many times mums have told me how much better they feel after a class even though the last thing they wanted to do was exercise when they woke up in the morning!
Exercise is also often suggested to ladies who are suffering from post natal depression. It’s a tough and isolating time when you have a new baby to look after and our classes can help you to regain your physical strength at your own pace and in turn can improve your mental wellness too. It’s all good!
Come and join our growing community of ladies and get a great, fun effective workout as well as making some new friends. We also have baby free workout options in the evenings so there’s something for everyone!
I cannot wait to see what 2020 brings for us – As well as meeting lots of new ladies and little ones I’m hoping to complete a sub 2 hour half marathon and am looking forward to taking part in Total Warrior again with a team of ladies from class!
