Create colourful felted fabrics inspired by the artworks our collection display A Contemporary Collection.
Using natural and dyed merino wool, rolling mats and everyday materials like soap and towels, families will be introduced to the process of felt making. Experience everything from manipulating dry fleece to felting pieces into a fused fabric artwork.
Making felt can be tiring on arms and wrists, but you can take your time and we are here to help. If you have weaker wrists then please let us know and we will make sure you get help at this stage.
We use a very watered down soap solution, so let us know if you have a sensitivity to this.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 2 – 12, who must be accompanied by an adult.
You will be asked to collect an activity sheet from the Learning Studios and go up to the gallery before starting the activity.
This workshop will be closed over lunch from 12.30 – 1pm. Last admittance to the activity will be at 3.30pm.
The gallery and our activities for families can be busy during school holidays and weekends. To help us facilitate an enjoyable experience for all of our visitors we ask that groups of 5 or more children let us know when they plan to visit by contacting the Learning Team on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01924 247398.
